UK launch for MiTo MultiAir models
Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo has introduced the new MultiAir engine technology into the MiTo compact car.
Released in the UK last year, the MiTo is now available with two turbocharged 1.4-litre versions of the MultiAir engine delivering 135 and 170bhp.
The more powerful engine, available only in the range-topping Cloverleaf model, powers the MiTo from 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds and delivers a combined fuel consumption of 47.1mpg.
The MultiAir engine, designed to offer better efficiency and lower CO2 emissions in the Alfa range, delivers 50.4mpg and 129g/km of CO2 emissions from the 135bhp unit in the Lusso and Veloce models.
Alfa has introduced a number of new features across the MiTo range to coincide with the launch of the MultiAir engines. Now, Lusso, Veloce and Cloverleaf models all come with Alfa DNA, offering three different driving modes.
Similarly, Start&Stop, a system which suggests to the driver when to change gear, thus increasing fuel economy, is now standard in all MiTo models.
The range-topping Cloverleaf, as well as distinctive badge and styling, has been given active suspension, making it the first vehicle in the sector to benefit from the racing-inspired technology.
The MiTo MultiAir models cost between £15,165 for the Lusso, to £17,895 for the Cloverleaf.
