Peugeot RCZ, 3008 win awards
Peugeot has won two accolades in the Diesel Car magazine ‘Car of the Year Awards 2011’.
The RCZ coupe was named the ‘Sports Car of the Year’ for the second year in a row, while the ground-breaking Peugeot 3008 HYbrid 4 was given the ‘Best Eco Car of 2011’, marking the first award given to the hybrid versions of the crossover model.
The editor of Diesel Car magazine, Ian Robertson, complimented both Peugeot models. He said: "The 3008 is one of the very best crossovers, and as a diesel-electric hybrid it’s an ace combination. The 3008 HYbrid 4 is a green-friendly model for the real world that can be refuelled within minutes, not hours."
Regarding the Peugeot RCZ, he said: "It has the look of a supercar but without the ridiculous price tag. We love it for its styling pizzazz, for its torquey turbodiesel verve, and for the smile it plasters across your face when you drive it."
These latest awards round off an impressive 18 months for Peugeot in the UK which has led to over a dozen major awards from the industry’s media including Top Gear’s ‘Coupe of the Year’, WhatCar? ‘Car of the Year’ 2010 and Fleet News ‘Green Fleet Manufacturer of the Year 2011’.
The Peugeot RCZ was the car that allowed the French Manufacturer to take the Top Gear ‘Coupe of the Year’ award. The sports coupe’s engine range includes a class leading 2.0 litre HDi diesel unit which produces 163bhp.
The 3008 HYbrid 4 will use Peugeot’s advanced diesel electric hybrid technology; its aim is to set a new benchmark for low CO2 emissions for family cars. The hybrid model will launch in the UK this autumn.
Current pricing for the RCZ starts from £21,425 including VAT. Meanwhile, pricing for the 3008 HYbrid 4 will start from £26,600 when it goes on sale. A special limited edition model of the 3008 will launch in October, costing £29,995.
