Peugeot 508 rated good for safety
The Peugeot 508 has received both a maximum five star safety rating and a special Advanced Award from Euro NCAP in its latest crash test results.
The latest family saloon demonstrated a good level of protection particularly against whiplash injuries in a rear-end collision.
The 508 also performed exceptional in child protection, with a rating of 87%. A contributing factor, says Euro NCAP, that the car ‘uses a rearward-facing child restraint safely in the front passenger seat while providing clear, unambiguous information to the driver about the status of the airbag.’
The French saloon performed even better in adult protection, scoring 87% overall, while the assessment on safety assist was rated a near perfect 97%.
Peugeot has also received an Advanced Award from Euro NCAP for its Connect SOS technology which is fitted into the 508.
The system is designed to connect the vehicle automatically with an emergency call centre immediately following an accident.
When an accident is detected, the SOS device first sends an SMS message to a Peugeot call centre, giving the precise location at the time of impact.
The system will establish a voice connection between the car and call centre. If the occupants of the car are unable to talk, the call centre will immediately inform the emergency services and provide information on the accident.
Now available in UK showrooms, the Peugeot 508 saloon has a starting on-the-road price of £18,150. An estate version called the Sport Wagon (SW) is also available in showrooms starting from an on-the-road price of £19,176.
