Next-gen Kia Picanto sketches revealed
Kia has revealed the first design sketches of the next generation Picanto, which is scheduled for release in the UK in spring next year.
Kia says the new Picanto is ‘designed to break the city car mould’, taking styling cues from the hugely popular Pop concept from this year’s Paris Motor Show.
The large bumpers and gaping grille are reminiscent of the Pop urban mobility concept, and the coupe-like raked roofline gives it a sportier silhouette.
The rear end is more recognisable as a Picanto, albeit a sleeker, more modern version than the current model that is in its final year of its lifecycle.
Like the new Sportage and Soul, the new Picanto has been designed in Kia’s Frankfurt design studio by Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer. It will make its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2011.
The outgoing Kia Picanto is available now from £6,495.
