New, updated 2012 Kia Soul confirmed
Kia will reveal a new look for the Kia Soul crossover next month in time for 2012, it has confirmed.
The quirky SUV-styled crossover was only launched in 2009 but Kia's introduction of a new Sportage crossover, new Picanto city car and updated Kia Rio hatchback since then means the Soul is next in line to be given a refresh.
The new Kia Soul is expected to get some subtle styling changes, but the general box-like shape at the rear end and upright stance that has made the original so recognisable is expected to remain the same.
However, the front end is expected to be revised to fall into line with the 'tiger face' look made popular on the likes of the Sportage.
Kia has not revealed if the engine range will be updated in the 2012 Kia Soul, which will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The current Kia Soul is priced from £12,000 and comes in '1' and '2' trim levels with a choice of 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engines.
However, Kia has extended the range with some eye-catching special edition models. The five-strong range of special editions features extra colour schemes, interior trims and extra equipment.
Labelled the 'Soul Originals' range, the special editions include the £16,000 Kia Soul Burner, a dramatic edition featuring a black colour scheme with body graphics.
Other models include the more luxurious Kia Soul Searcher, monochrome Kia Soul Echo and the Kia Soul Shaker and Kia Soul Tempest.
Prices for the Kia Soul Originals editions range from £14,000 For the Soul Tempest to £17,500 for the Kia Soul Searcher.
