New Renault Twingo on sale in January
The new Renault Twingo will go on sale in the UK in January 2012, the French car maker has revealed.
The small city car, the smallest hatchback in Renault's line-up, is a favourite with city-based, female buyers but Renault says the new version will appeal to a wider audience when it arrives.
To achieve this, the Twingo is the first car in the Renault range to feature the new front end first displayed on the stunning DeZir concept sports car.
The front end includes a larger, more upright Renault badge and more pronounced fog lights and a reworked grille.
Renault has gone down the same route as the Fiat 500 and Citroen DS3 with the new Twingo to expand its appeal by offering a host of extra body colours, alloy wheel designs and even an optional fabric sunroof to extend the customisation options of its car.
This extends to the roof, where a range of different roof graphics have been introduced with the new 2012 Renault Twingo.
Antoine Génin, Director of Interior Design, said: "Our aim was to reinforce the fun, colourful and friendly character of Twingo, in particular by working on the range of colours and materials. We wanted New Twingo to appeal beyond its core customer base, which is predominantly female and city-based."
Inside, there are new upholstery options and more space than previous versions. The boot offers 230 Cubic metres of space with the rear seats up and 959 Cubic metres with the rear seats folded.
As expected from a new small car, the new Twingo is also more efficient than before with a choice of 1.2-litre TCe 100hp petrol and 1.2-litre 16V 75hp petrol engines. The latter delivers the best CO2 emissions of 119g/km and fuel economy of 55.4mpg.
The new Renault Twingo goes on sale in the UK in January 2012. Prices will be announced closer to the launch date.
