New Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 on sale now
The new Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4, the first UK's first ever mass-produced diesel-hybrid car, is now on sale.
Based on the Peugeot 3008 crossover, the new Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 costs from £26,995 and boasts the lowest running costs in the entire 3008 range.
The combination of diesel engine to drive the front wheels and electric motor to drive the rear wheels means the car uses a 4x4 system.
However, CO2 emissions are as low as 99g/km because of the hybrid powertrain and the use fuel-saving technology such as low-rolling resistance tyres.
The 200bhp powertrain also allows the car to be driven in purely electric mode for short distances or with a combination of diesel and electric power.
The low level of emissions and fuel economy figure of 74mpg has led to the car taking the What Car? Best Eco Car of the Year 2011.
Chas Hallett, Editor-in-Chief at What Car?, said: "The world's first production diesel hybrid is the best hybrid the What Car? team has driven. The joint power sources work together seamlessly and emit only 99g/km of CO2."
Hallett also highlighted the fact the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 is eligible for exemption from the London congestion charge and UK road tax.
Morgan Lecouper, Marketing Director of Peugeot, said: "Peugeot has long paved the way in diesel engine development and HYbrid4 is at the fore of automotive technology. Having the 3008 HYbrid4 being recognised in this way by What Car? is an honour and one we are extremely proud of."
The Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 is available from UK dealerships now from £26,995.
