New Kia Sportage arrives in the UK
Kia’s all-new Sportage has arrived in showrooms across the UK, and is available to buy from £16,645.
Competing in the competitive crossover market against the Ford Kuga and Peugeot 3008, the new Peter Schreyer-designed Sportage is available with four engines; two petrol and two diesel.
The entry-level unit is the 133bhp 1.6-litre petrol that emits 149g/km of CO2 and returns over 44mpg on a combined cycle. The greenest engine in the line-up is the 1.7-litre CRDi diesel which, while outputting 114bhp, manages to emit 135g/km and return 54.3mpg combined.
The latter two powertrains are the 2.0-litre petrol and diesel units that emit 181 and 149g/km of CO2 respectively when mated to a manual gearbox. These figures increase to 195 and 179g/km with the optional automatic gearbox.
The new, more muscular Sportage is a radical departure from its forebear, with high shoulder and low roof lines, ribbed roof and reverse-angle C-pillars giving it a more ‘urban friendly’ appearance.
Typically, the Sportage bears Kia’s 1, 2 and 3 trim designations, and all-wheel drive versions will be dubbed KX models.
While the entry-level Kia Sportage is priced at £16,645, the range-topping four-wheel drive 2.0-litre CRDi comes in at £26,170.
