New Kia models take home top design awards
The new Kia Sportage crossover SUV and Optima saloon have each drove off with an iF product design award; widely renowned as one of the world’s most important prizes for excellence in design.
The cars, two of Kia’s latest additions to its ever-expanding, ever-improving line-up, were recognised in the Transportation Design category. The iF jury received 2,756 entries this year, spanning 16 categories and 43 countries.
Criteria for the award included workmanship, level of innovativeness, eco-friendliness, ergonomics, safety and, of course, design quality.
The main focus this year however was brand image, and Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Kia Motors, Tae-Hyun Oh, believes that these new cars have done much to improve the perception of the Korean firm.
“These latest awards for the all-new Kia Sportage and Optima are positive proof of the tremendous strides Kia has made in revolutionising the styling of our product line-up," he said.
The Kia Sportage is priced from £16,545, with prices for the new Optima expected closer to its launch date next year.
