New Jaguar sports car teased
Jaguar has revealed the first look at a new two-seat sports car, the Jaguar C-X16 concept, in a sketch released this week.
The small sports car, which is expected to make production as a convertible and coupe, is the latest new car from the British-based car maker and is expected to showcase the fourth model to enter its line up.
The Jaguar C-X16 will be a sporty two-seater with styling from Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum, the man behind the new Jaguar XK, XF and XJ Jaguars currently sold in the UK.
The new sports car concept features a hint of the XK coupe in its looks, but Jaguar has labelled it the next step in the brand's rapid revival in recent years.
Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars said: "Jaguar has set in place bold, ambitious plans for the future.
"This production concept demonstrates the depth of design and engineering ability we have within Jaguar to make these plans come to life - I look forward to sharing this latest, exciting step at the Frankfurt Motor Show."
The car will be revealed at the show in September, where it is expected to be one of the stars of the show.
This, says designer Ian Callum, is because the C-X16 concept has the potential to 'surprise, excite and invigorate'. He added: "Great Jaguars have always been beautiful, innovative and have looked firmly to the future."
The new Jaguar C-X16 will be unveiled in Frankfurt on 13 September, with a production model expected to arrive as early as 2013.
