New Focus undergoes extensive tests
Ford has been putting the new Focus through its paces during hot and cold weather endurance testing.
All new cars are routinely tested to analyse how well air-conditioning systems can cope with extremes of temperature.
As part of the testing the new Focus, which launches in the UK in March 2011, has visited locations as different as Antequera in Spain or the Arctic circle.
However, much of the work has been done in Dunton, Essex, where the manufacturer has heat chambers capable of temperatures between -40C and up to +50C.
Air con systems are work differently in different markets, with Americans enjoying the feel of feel a strong breeze. In Europe, however, owners prefer not to feel airflow.
