New Chevrolet Aveo to make Paris premiere
A full production Chevrolet Aveo will star at the Paris Motor Show this month, alongside the new Captiva, Cruze and Orlando.
The new Chevrolet Aveo hasn’t strayed too far from the RS show car from the Detroit and Geneva Motor Shows earlier this year; it’s aggressive front end remains intact, as does the ‘body in, wheels out’ profile and the hidden rear door handles.
The Aveo’s cabin offers more space for all occupants, despite dimensions remaining the same, and bootspace has been increased too. A new motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster and a backlit centre console are the main changes inside the cabin.
Chevrolet says the new supermini brings hot hatch styling to the small car segment and expects it to be a hit in Europe, as it has been ‘carefully tailored’ for the market.
Customers can choose from four engines in total; two petrol – 86bhp 1.2-litre, 100bhp 1.4-litre - and two diesels – 75bhp/95bhp 1.3-litre (with Start/Stop technology). An automatic gearbox can be mated to the potent diesel, but a manual transmission comes standard across the range.
Prices are yet to be revealed for the new Chevrolet Aveo. Such details will emerge before it goes on sale in autumn 2011.
