New 2012 Kia Rio prices announced
The new 2012 Kia Rio will start from £10,595 from 1 September, the Korean car maker has confirmed.
The Ford Fiesta rival is the latest new car from Kia just weeks after the smaller Kia Picanto city was launched to almost universal approval.
The new Kia Rio continues the upward trend from the car maker with the same award-winning looks seen in the Picanto.
More importantly, the new supermini has been given a new interior, more equipment and a new range of engines for 2012 - as well as a three-door version for the first time ever from early in 2012.
In the UK, a 1.25-petrol engine delivering CO2 emissions of 114g/km sits at the bottom of the range priced at £10,595 (£11,395 for a version with air conditioning).
However, the most frugal engine in the range is the 1.1-litre diesel engine which, in EcoDynamics variation, delivers CO2 emissions of 85g/km of CO2 emissions and up to 88.3mpg of fuel economy.
Prices for the diesel model start from £11,095, and a larger 1.4-litre diesel is priced from £14,195 with '2' and '3' trim levels.
The final engine in the range is a 1.4-litre petrol unit, which again is available in '2' and range-topping '3' specification from £13,095. The petrol also comes with the option of an automatic transmission in '2' specification.
Kia says the new Rio will be one of the ten top-selling superminis in the UK thanks to an increase in luggage space, new designs inside and out and a higher level of equipment than ever before.
This includes daytime running lights, front electric windows and an MP3 sound system with CD player and Bluetooth connectivity as standard.
Extra equipment on higher trim levels includes air conditioning, cruise control, heated front seats and 17" alloy wheels.
The new five-door Kia Rio will be available to buy from 1 September in time for the new registration plates in the UK.
