Minagi concept previews Mazda’s first crossover
Mazda is poised to enter the growing crossover SUV market after revealing the Minagi concept ahead of its world premiere in Geneva this March.
The Minagi has been styled with Mazda’s new Kodo (Soul of Motion) design language that recently replaced the Nagare theme, which was only put into production once with the new Mazda5 MPV.
The Japanese carmaker believes this language is more powerful and has more energy, thus ‘helping the vehicle stand out in a sprawling urban cityscape’.
As well as showcasing a new design theme, the Minagi also features Mazda’s new SKYACTIV technologies, boasting the SKYACTIV petrol and diesel engine line-up and transmissions as well lightweight SKYACTIV body and chassis.
These, according to the Mazda, ‘combine in a low-weight yet highly safe package’.
The Minagi will be joined on Mazda’s Geneva stand by the Shinari concept, which makes its European debut, and special SKYACTIV exhibits will also be on show.
The Geneva Motor Show is open for the public from 3 – 13 March.
