Mazda to supply UK's blue light services
Mazda has been named an official provider of police vehicles for the first time after earning a place on the new National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) agreement.
Mazda will supply the UK’s 54 police forces with models such as the 3, 5 and CX-7; all of which come under the ‘standard vehicles’ category. All vehicles in this category will be used on covert and special operations.
As part of the new NPIA framework, Fire, NHS and coastguard services will also have access to Mazda’s vehicle range.
“We are delighted to have won approval in that category and, as a result, we anticipate that Mazda sales to police forces will increase significantly," said Jason Jenkins, Mazda’s Regional Corporate Sales Manager.
Mazda predicts that the 256bhp 2.3-litre Mazda3 MPS will be its bestseller among blue light services, due to its 155mph top speed and 0-62mph sprint time of 6.1 seconds that will ‘keep the police on the tail of many criminals’.
On the road prices for the Mazda3, 5 and CX-7 ranges start from £14,230, £17,695 and £26,995 respectively.
