Jaguar XKR-S stars at Goodwood
The new Jaguar XKR-S, currently the manufacturer’s fastest production model, will be put through its paces at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Jaguar will be the honoured marquee at this year’s event (held on July 1-3) as the company celebrates the 50 year anniversary of the launch of the E-type. Cars from Jaguar’s past and present will be displayed and driven on the Goodwood Hill track.
The Jaguar XKR-S, the new range-topping model in the XK range, will be driven up the notorious hill.
The sports car delivers 550hp and a top speed of 186mph. The XKR-S will accelerate from 0-60mph in just 4.2 seconds, achieving 0-100mph in just 8.6 seconds.
The XKR-S coupe will be available for purchase in the UK from this September. Prices for the XK range start at £65,000, rising to £97,000 for the XKR-S.
Another new Jaguar model appearing at Goodwood this year will be the XFR making its UK public debut. The updated luxury saloon, now with 510hp, won the ‘Most Spirited Getaway’ accolade at the Festival of Speed press day earlier this year.
The C-X75 concept car will also be displayed on the Jaguar stand for this year. Earlier this year, during an online press conference, Jaguar revealed it would produce a petrol-electric hybrid supercar based on this concept model.
It will be developed by Jaguar with assistance from the Williams Formula One team. It is expected to be launched sometime in 2013 and will cost in a region between £700,000 and £900,000.
While the C-X75 will be just on display, the latest Jaguar models including the XKR-S can be driven up the Goodwood Hill by guests as part of the Moving Motor Show on 30 June.
