Jaguar XK drivers worst for speeding
More than one in five Jaguar XK drivers has a speeding conviction, according to new research by insurance company MoneySupermarket.com
Drivers of the Jaguar coupe are the most likely to speed out of any in the UK with 20.9 per cent clocking up a speeding conviction.
The Jaguar XK, which comes with a choice of 5.0-litre V8 385bhp petrol or 5.0-litre V8 510bhp supercharged petrol engine, can reach a limited 155mph and can accelerate to 60mph from standing in less than five and a half seconds.
A fearsome Jaguar XKR, which uses a 550bhp supercharged petrol engine can travel at speeds of up to 186mph and can accelerate from 0-60mph in just 4.2 seconds.
The Jaguar XKR has its own place on the list with 18.3 per cent of drivers with speeding convictions putting the car in sixth position.
It seems the excess performance has encouraged a number of Jaguar drivers to break UK speed limits, according to the data.
MoneySupermarket.com took 18 million car insurance quotes as the basis for its findings and the list of speeding cars was dominated by expensive saloons and performance vehicles.
The Audi A5 was the second-worst offender with 19.8 per cent of drivers clocking up a speeding conviction while the BMW 6 Series was close behind with 19.7 per cent.
The top five was completed by the Alfa Romeo 159 (19.1 per cent) and another Jaguar, the XF executive saloon, coming in at fifth with 18.8 per cent.
Alfa Romeo, Audi and BMW all have two cars in the top ten with the Alfa Romeo Brera, Audi TT and BMW 3 Series appearing in the list.
The final model is the Nissan 370Z sports car, which at 17.5 per cent is the tenth most-caught car when it comes to speeding.
