Jaguar Land Rover triumph at ‘motoring Oscars’
British car manufacturers Jaguar and Land Rover celebrated success last week at the annual What Car? Awards; often referred to as the ‘motoring Oscars’.
Jaguar’s XF drove away with the Executive Car of the Year title at the glittering ceremony held at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London, while the Land Rover Discovery was successful in the 4x4 category.
The Range Rover Evoque also won the Reader Award for most exciting car of 2011; putting it amongst the favourites to win the overall Car of the Year award in 2012.
What Car’s 2008 Car of the Year and four-time winner of the Executive award, the Jaguar XF, received the accolade for its ‘fantastic’ looks, ‘brilliant’ drive and its affordability in the sector.
Meanwhile the Land Rover Discovery was dubbed ‘an iconic car’ by What Car? Editor-in-Chief Steve Fowler, who added: “We’ve loved the Land Rover Discovery ever since we made it Car of the Year 2005 and this is its seventh What Car? Award – an amazing feat.
