Ford unleashes Focus ST at Paris
Ford debuted its eagerly anticipated Focus ST at the Paris Motor Show last week, which will be the performance flagship of the hatchback range when it is released in 2012.
Fitted with a specially tuned 2.0-litre EcoBoost powertrain, the new ST not only outputs 10 per cent more power than its predecessor - 246bhp, 265 lb-ft of torque – but fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are improved by more than 20 per cent.
While the motorsport-inspired spoiler blades and new rear spoiler provide functional and aerodynamic benefits, the one-piece gaping grille and bespoke 19-inch alloy wheels differentiate it from other models in the new Focus family.
The production-ready Ford Focus ST show car is finished in Tangerine Scream, a colour that reflects its ‘exciting and energetic’ character, according to Ford. This contrasts the Golden Graphite colour of the wheels, but is matched by the bold colour of the brake callipers.
The rally-inspired Recaro sport seats strike the perfect balance between sporting support and long-distance comfort, as well as adding to the sporting feel of the cockpit. Charcoal black leather with yellow-gold stitching is used generously throughout the cabin, and is complemented by bespoke sporting instruments.
