Ford takes top honours in July
Ford has been named the overall car sales leader in July by the Society of Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
Contributing to the 18,442 new registrations the company racked up in July was the Fiesta supermini, which was the best-selling model of the month with 6,695 units sold. This means 64,203 Ford Fiesta models have been sold in 2010 so far, by far the best-seller.
Although finishing fourth behind the Vauxhall Astra and Vauxhall Corsa, stablemate the Ford Focus remains in second place for the year with 52,522 units sold.
The manufacturer puts the success in July down to the new Blue Tag pricing strategy that sees the list prices of cars reduced. This is aimed taking the confusion out of buying a car, says Ford.
The Fiesta also recently triumphed at the Auto Express awards, where it came away with the Best Supermini accolade. The Ford S-MAX was also victorious on the night, scooping the Best MPV gong for the third consecutive year.
The popular Ford Fiesta supermini is available now from £11,645.
