Ford scores two 'car of the decade' gongs
Ford has received a double boost from car-price outfit CAP, which has named the Ford Focus as overall Used Car of the Decade and Ford Ka as Small Car of the Decade.
A panel of judges voted unanimously for the Ford Focus, declaring it as "the vehicle which set new standards of quality in the volume car market during the decade 2000-2009".
The Focus won praise in the areas of affordability, practicality of ownership, sustained popularity and reputation.
"Although the awards concentrate on three year-old vehicles, it is testament to the build quality of Ford cars that well maintained examples from the late 90s still feel as if they have many years of motoring life left," said Mark Norman of judging panel.
Norman went on to praise the Fora Ka for its fresh design and reliability.
"The Ford Ka scores on every measure of used car excellence, offering true affordability, low running costs and reliable simple engineering."
1,271,570 Ford Focus models have been sold in the last decade, with 401,465 Ford Ka models sold in that period.
