Ford is European best-seller
Ford was the best-selling brand in Europe in March 2010, with European sales up by over 16 per cent.
Ford sold 192,500 units in March, thanks to sales success of the Ford Focus and Fiesta particularly.
Last month’s European sales were up 16.1 percent compared to March of 2009. Overall for this year, Ford has become the number two best selling brand in Europe.
The Ford Fiesta was the best-selling car overall in March, sales of Ford's perennial supermini have been boosted by scrappage schemes but the Ford supermini remains a popular choice among buyers and pundits.
“Fiesta continues to be an outstanding performer for us with 140,400 sold in Europe during the first three months of the year, and close to 70,000 sold in March alone," said Roelant de Waard, Vice President, Sales, Ford of Europe.
“Globally, we’ve now sold over 750,000 Fiestas since the latest generation model was launched almost 18 months ago."
Ford's Fiesta usually tops the charts in UK sales too, with the Focus and Mondeo also strong sellers.
