Ford Fiesta and Focus tops June sales
The Ford Focus and smaller Ford Fiesta were the first and second best selling cars in June and the year as a whole.
According to statistics from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the Ford Fiesta sold 8,829 units in the month of June 2011; this is an increase from last month when the small car made 8,135 sales.
Not only did the Fiesta sell more than any of its rivals in June, it is also the best selling car in the year to date with 51,643 units registered in total.
The Ford Focus is the second best selling car for the month of June and the year to date. It was not far off the Fiesta in the month of June, with 8,055 sales recorded. This is quite a leap compared to last month, when the Focus registered 6,492 sales in May 2011.
In the year to date, the Ford Focus has sold 43,825 in total, comfortable establishing it ahead of arch-rivals like the Volkswagen Golf and Vauxhall Astra.
Overall in the month of June 2011, Ford sold 24,461 cars in total. This is an improvement compared to the same month last year when the manufacturer sold 23,716 units.
Ford also took a 13.36% market share in June, up when compared to 12.15% gained in June 2010.
In the whole of 2011 to date, Ford has sold 144,481 cars in total.
The new Ford Focus is currently available in UK dealerships from £16,000 for the standard model. The range-topping Titanium X version costs £21,250.
The Ford Fiesta is available from £9,995, rising up to £15,900 for the range-topping S1600 model.
