Diesel award for Land Rover Discovery
The Land Rover Discovery 4 has been named Best 4x4 at the Diesel Car, Car of the Year Awards 2010.
The Land Rover Freelander 2 and the Range Rover were also nominated, but lost out to the Disco for the top spot.
"We offer no apologies for an all Land Rover line-up as finalists in this category, as the British firm's 2010 range is simply the best ever," said Ian Robertson, editor of Diesel Car Magazine.
"The Discovery 4 has always been unbeatable off-road, and now it has the on-road ace to match, with decent road manners and top notch refinement.
"There's even enough room for seven full size adults on-board - and there aren't many vehicles that can cope with that."
The fourth iteration of the Land Rover Discovery is a seven-seat 4x4 powered by a 3.0-litre V6 twin turbo diesel engine.
"The outgoing Discovery 3 received over 100 international awards, and yet we've found ways to improve virtually every aspect of the new vehicle," said John Edwards, managing director for Land Rover UK.
"It is therefore extremely rewarding for Land Rover to have received the one-two-three and recognition that that the best has just got better!"
