Citroen DS3 celebrates a year of sales
Citroen are preparing for a special event this weekend to mark the Citroen DS3’s first year on sale.
The event, scheduled for Saturday 2nd April, will take place at the Ferte Gaucher circuit near Paris, where owners of the DS3 will all gather together in a schedule of celebrations.
Over 200 owners of the supermini model are expected to arrive in a multi-coloured parade of all the personalised DS3 cars under ownership.
Owners of the DS3 will also have the opportunity to take to the track in the Citroen DS3 Racing alongside an expert instructor.
The DS3 racing is a top of the range, 202hp version of the DS3 built by the same engineers who create the Citroen’s World Rally Championship models, including the current DS3 WRC.
The Citroen DS3 is the first addition built for the DS (Different Spirit) range. The French manufacturer has witnessed a successful performance for the DS3 in its first year on sale, with more than 80,000 sales.
The supermini has been well received by customers and motoring journalists across the UK and Europe since it made its debut. The Citroen DS3 has received numerous awards, including the 2010 Car of the year title from Top Gear Magazine and recently the award for ‘Best Hot Hatch’ in the Carbuyer 2011 Awards.
The Communications Director at Citroen UK, Marc Raven, said: ‘(the) DS3 has proven to be a landmark success for Citroen, and a celebration like this is richly deserved.
The reception from owners across Europe has been emphatically positive, and this event will be a real reflection of the DS3 spirit’. Citroen’s DS range is set to expand this year with the arrival of the DS4 hatchback; it will be launched in the UK this August.
