Citroen DS3 awarded 'Best Hot Hatch' title
The Citroen DS3 has been awarded the title of ‘Best Hot Hatch’ by CarBuyer in their inaugural Car of the Year awards.
The DS3, a supermini which is the first model in the distinctively styled DS line by Citroen, has enjoyed high praise and won a number of prestigious honours since it arrived in the UK in 2010.
In its first year on sale, the Citroen DS3 has won several awards including TopGear magazine’s ‘Car of the year’ for 2010 and Fifth Gear’s ‘Small Car of the Year’.
This latest award for the Citroen model was presented to Citroen UK’s managing director, Linda Jackson, at the Geneva Motor Show this month.
The award was earned by Car Buyer for “Combining smart looks, lively performance and entertaining handling in such an affordable package", they explained.
CarBuyer also claimed that “Citroen has crafted the sharpest go-faster supermini around". The turbocharged DS3 DSport 150 was singled out by Car Buyer’s expert panel of road testers and reviewers as “great value" and a model that “will also make plenty of sense once its showroom shine has begun to fade, thanks to Citroen’s affordable service plan and maintenance costs".
In February this year, Citroen added to the DS3 range with a special edition 207bhp DS3 Racing. Developed by Citroen’s World Rally Championship team, the DS3 Racing delivers power and performance alongside efficiency.
This model will achieve 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds, while recording 44.1mpg (combined cycle fuel economy) and CO2 emissions of 149g/km.
