Chevrolet embarks on busy 15 months
Chevrolet will release seven new models over the next 15 months in the UK with the Orlando MPV kicking off the operation next month.
Following on from the Orlando is the Captiva SUV, the Cruze saloon, the Aveo supermini and the Volt Extended Range Electric Vehicle (E-REV).
The final piece of the Chevrolet jigsaw puzzle is the hotly anticipated 426bhp Camero muscle car that will be available in both hard and soft top V8 iterations at some point in 2011.
In light of an expanding range Chevrolet expects to “see a big increase in sales" in the UK from the 13,768 units sold in 2010 according to Mark Terry, Chevrolet UK’s managing director:
“The brand’s retail sales last year remained good and we expect to sell around 19,000 vehicles this year, 10,000 of them being to retail customers.
“The Orlando is expected to account for 2,000 UK registrations this year and is the first of our new models. The brand will really establish itself this year with new products covering 66% of the new car market."
Terry’s expectations look feasible as the Chevrolet Orlando offers the brand opportunities with motability customers – predicting a 50/50 sales split between fleet and retail customers in the UK.
