2012 Jaguar XF revealed
The updated 2012 Jaguar XF has made its official debut at the New York Auto show this week. The new model comes with changes in styling, technology and promises to be the most efficient car yet produced by Jaguar.
Changes made in power units consist of a new 2.2 litre four cylinder diesel engine, which develops 190hp and 332lbs ft of torque, linked to a new eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
The engine is also equipped with an innovative stop/start system, making it the first Jaguar to have such a device. With this unit the XF’s fuel economy is in excess of 50mpg, and emits just 149g/km of CO2.
The new XF is still available with the choice of engines available for the current model, including the range of 3.0 litre V6 diesel engines and V8 petrol engines, which in supercharged XFR form, creates an impressive 510hp.
Also making up the new XF are significant changes to the styling of the saloon. Based on the design language that inspired the XJ, the new XF throws in all-new look to the front end with slim new headlights units made up of LED lighting strips, and a larger more upright grille. A lower bonnet line and a trio of airdams are other highlights of the XF’s new exterior.
Style changes in the interior include a new restyled steering wheel plus revised switchgear for the ventilation systems. Now included as well are colour central and dial mounted screens relaying reprogrammed navigation and entertainment features. A set of redesigned seats added as well, equals an even more refined and luxurious interior for the XF.
Jaguar has also update the XFR model for 2012 with new styling. It now has a trio of deep airdams on the front of the car with a set of cooling vents in the bonnet. New sill extensions run down the side of the car by redesigned 20 inch wheels. Meanwhile the rear has new lights sitting above a redesigned bumper with diffuser attached.
Across the new XF range further refinement has been made with active diesel engine mounts and new sound deadening materials on the saloon models as well.
The new Jaguar XF goes on sale this September, with prices starting from £30,950, rising to £65,350 for the updated XFR model.
