About the Vauxhall Insignia
The Vauxhall Insignia was launched in 2008 as a replacement for the outgoing Vauxhall Vectra.
The European Car of the Year 2009 is available in hatchback, saloon and Sports Tourer estate versions.
Compared to the Vauxhall Vectra, the Insignia boasts a low-slung coupe-like roofline with, in the case of the Sports Tourer, a roomy estate rear end.
For the first time on a Vauxhall since the early Vauxhall Cavalier, the Insignia features all-wheel drive on the saloon version.
A range of petrol and diesel engines are available for the Vauxhall Insignia, including an impressive range topping 2.8-litre V6 capable of producing 260bhp.
All engines are offered with the choice of six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
An ecoFLEX model was introduced as the range’s flagship green car based on a 160bhp diesel engine.
The Vauxhall Insignia has been awarded five stars in the EuroNCAP safety tests and buyers are also offered the option of an advanced front camera system which reads road signs and informs the driver if they’re over the speed limit.
Prices for Vauxhall Insignia models range from £18,800 for the 1.8i Exclusiv 5dr to £34,525 for the 2.8T V6 4x4 VXR Nav 5dr.
