In response to public demand, Mazda has extended the new 2 supermini range even further with the addition of the Activematic automatic model.

The Mazda2 Activematic is fitted with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a four-speed automatic transmission. With this combination, the supermini manages over 44mpg on a combined cycle and emits between 135 and 146g/km of CO2, despite outputting 102bhp.

In TS2 trim level, the Mazda2 Activematic boasts 15-inch alloy wheels, side and curtain airbags, leather steering wheel with audio controls, 60/40 split rear seats and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). The latter is a feature exclusive to the automatic.

“The new automatic Mazda2 Activematic model is certain to expand the appeal of our smallest car," says Sales Director at Mazda UK, Mark Cameron.

“We expect our latest [automatic] model to account for around eight per cent of Mazda2 sales in 2011."

The revised Mazda2 range is priced between £9,995 and £14,455, with the Activematic model coming in at £12,060 in TS2 trim.
