The popular Fiat 500 city car will receive a new 1.3-litre 16-Valve 95bhp MultiJet engine in 2010. The popular Fiat 500 city car, introduced in 1998, will be gived a new 1.3-litre 16-Valve 95bhp MultiJet diesel engine in 2010 to replace the older 75bhp unit.

Fiat claims the new MulitJet II engine offers 200Nm of torque at 1500rpm and can achieve a top speed of 112mph. With a 0-62mph time of 10.7 seconds, Fiat believes the latest engine is now the most powerful in the A-segment.

The Fiat 500 with the MultiJet engine returns a fuel economy of 72.4mpg and impressive CO2 emissions of just 104g/km.

The Fiat city car has won numerous awards since it was introduced to the UK market, including two consecutive City Car titles at the BusinessCar Awards.

Other cars competing in the A-segment include the Renault Twingo and Ford Ka.
