Mazda launches a limited edition MX-5 to celebrate the car's 20th anniversary in the UK market.
Mazda has launched a limited edition Mazda MX-5 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the MX-5 in the UK – somewhat predictably called the ‘Mazda MX-5 20th Anniversary Limited Edition’.
UK sales since the 1990 launch of the iconic two-seater roadster are set to pass 100,000 this year, and the limited edition MX-5 was introduced as recognition of the brand’s success.
Aimed at people who enjoy ‘open-top motoring’, the Mazda MX-5 limited edition is based on the entry-level soft-top 1.8 SE convertible.
The 1.8-litre petrol engine coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox offers a fuel economy of 40.4mpg. The MX-5 has a top speed of 121mph and a 0-62mph time of 9.9 seconds.
Like the SE model, the new special edition features electric and heated door mirrors, electric windows, remote boot release and MP3-compatible Radio/CD audio system as standard.
However, the 20th Anniversary edition adds 17" alloy wheels with silver finish, front fog lights, chrome trims, body-coloured roll bars, manual air conditioning, aluminium pedal set and a stainless-steel scuff plate featuring a ‘20th Anniversary’ logo and limited edition number.
Three custom colours are available: True Red, Crystal White Pearlescent and Aurora Blue Mica.
Around 600 models of the 20th Anniversary Mazda MX-5 are available in the UK at a price of £16,850 on-the-road.
