Ford Fiesta is UK's favourite car for 2010
The Ford Fiesta is still the most popular car in the UK after topping the sales charts for the ninth time in ten months in October.
The supermini, a favourite with first time buyers and younger drivers, defied a 22.2 per cent drop in new car sales in October to record over 6,000 sales.
This comes as many small cars dropped down the sales charts as they fell out of favour with UK buyers.
However, the Ford Fiesta on its own accounted for over five per cent of the entire new car market in October, cementing its place as the best-selling car in the UK.
So far, just under 92,000 Fiestas have been sold in the UK in 2010, more than 21,000 more than any other car.
The popularity of the Fiesta stems from its involving and responsive drive, compact dimensions, low running costs and high levels of standard equipment.
Ford Fiesta prices start from just £10,000 and models such as the ECOnetic model delivers just 98g/km of CO2 emissions – meaning it is exempt from road tax in the UK.
The new Ford Fiesta comes with a CD player, tinted glass, home safe headlights, and front, side and knee airbags to protect occupants.
Higher specification models, starting from £10,745, include air conditioning, remote control central locking, electric windows and power heated door mirror housings.
Top spec models add all the bells and whistles such as front fog lights, alloy wheels, climate control and sports seats.
The popularity of the Ford Fiesta means it is widely available as a used car as well, and the wide availability of parts increase its desirability.
