Ford cuts big car prices

Ford is to cut prices on its larger models, in an effort to stimulate demand after the end of the scrappage scheme.
The Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy will receive big discounts on a permanent basis, meaning that a Mondeo is available from £17,295 - nearly £2,500 off the previous list price.
The new S-Max now starts at £20,645, while the 2010 Galaxy will start at £22,945. Ford says it will not offer big discounts at dealerships as a result.
"Ford's traditional high recommended list price, high discount approach was causing some confusion and incurred a disadvantage for company car drivers," said Nigel Sharp, managing director Ford of Britain.
"That formula served us well in the past, but today's web-savvy consumer is better equipped to shop around, and we have to make it absolutely clear that our own dealers are the best place to start for the keenest deals."
