For a second consecutive year, the Fiat 500 has come out on top of its Supermini class in the What Car? Green Awards.

What Car? judges selected the 1.2 litre Fiat 500 to receive the prestigious accolade for the second year in succession.

The Fiat 500 is fitted with Start/Stop technology that aims to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy by disengaging the engine when the car is stationary – at traffic lights or a level crossing for example.

What Car? editor-in-chief Steve Fowler commented: “It’s everything a green supermini should be-affordable, fun and easy on the environment."

The Fiat 500 is available with a choice of three ultra-low emissions Euro 5-compliant engines and customers can choose from Pop, Sport or Lounge trim levels. A limited edition 500bydiesel version is also currently outgoing.

The Fiat 500 carries a starting price of £9,465 on the road.
