The Citroen C-Zero compact electric vehicle will go on sale in the UK in early 2011. The Citroen C-Zero compact electric vehicle, first showcased in early 2010, will go on sale in the UK in early 2011, according to the French marque.

Citroen has timed the launch of the four-seat electric car to coincide with the Government scheme to offer up to £5,000 to customers buying a low-CO2 vehicle.

The C-Zero city car measures just 3.48m in length and along with four seats, offers a boot space of 166 litres. Standard features include power steering, ABS, traction control, ESP, electric windows, six airbags and air conditioning.

The lithium-ion battery powers an electric motor delivering 64bhp and a top speed of 80mph. The range of the C-Zero is 80 miles, after which it can be charged via a 220-volt socket or a 400-volt supply.

Following sub-99g/km models of the C3 and DS3 models and the widespread introduction of efficient Stop & Start technology in Citroen cars, the marque is becoming a major player in the low-CO2 market as it continues to grow.
