Alfa Romeo Giulietta
New Alfa Romeo Giulietta will go on sale in spring 2011
Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo has confirmed the new Giulietta hatchback will go on sale in spring 2011.
Going up against the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf, the Giulietta has been designed on an all-new platform and uses the same design language as the 8C Competizione supercar.
The makers of the Giulietta have already ambitiously stated the new chassis will make the car better-riding than the Golf and more agile than a Focus. The Giulietta designers have also targeted top ratings in the EuroNCAP safety tests.
To improve handling and ride comfort, an Alfa DNA system modifies the behaviour of the car depending on the driving style and road conditions. Three set-ups are available; Dynamic, Normal and All Weather.
Initially five Euro 5 compliant engines will be available for the Giulietta. Two 1.4-litre petrol engines delivering 120 and 170bhp and two diesel units delivering 105 and 170bhp are joined by a 1750 TBi version producing 235bhp with a Quadrifoglio Verde configuration.
The classic Alfa Romeo grille has been redesigned on the Giulietta and the side windows lend a coupe-style feel to the compact hatch. A muscular rear and redesigned complete the typically Alfa look.
Prices for the sporty hatchback will be released later to the launch date in 2011.
